Recently, after ten months of waiting we received a few boxes of some highly exceptional matcha that is indeed quite the sensory experience. This is the most premium matcha we have stocked, coming from family Nakanishi whose tiny, just 1,2 hectare tea garden is located on the outskirts of the historic capital Kyoto, the cradle of Japanese tea culture. The family business was founded 250 years ago during the Edo period, each year the family makes four to five different grades of tea totaling some 50kg each year in production. This is machine-harvested "entry" grade (the highest competition grade teas fetching hundreds of euros per 30 gram tin), in brackets as the standards are quite high to begin with - the tea is ab-so-lutely stunning. It is exceptionally smooth with close to none astringency whatsoever, deep, gradual, there's an amazing amount of development in the aftertaste that just continues and continues. The tea is uplifting but in a very natural way, as if just waking up after a long deep and restful sleep. The tea is harvested once a year in Spring, giving the plants plentiful time to rest, and are obviously grown without the use of agrochemicals.

If you want to try a special matcha experience, this is the tea to go with!
