High-mountain oolong tea from Ilam, East-Nepal, just a few hour car drive away from India's famous tea city of Darjeeling. First generation tea producer, the late Dr. Vaidya built a tea processing factory here back in 2001, purchasing leaves from small tea gardens in tea area. In one of these, a half-wild Ghoomti cultivar was discovered growing on the outskirts of the garden in a forested area. Cuttings were taken and with the ingenuity of the factory's manager, Orchid oolong was born. The tea is harvested in month of May, growing on slopes between 1500 and 2100 meters above sea level. For a high-mountain tea, Orchid oolong is quite full-bodied, yet with a elegant character. It has very much the flavour and feeling of white tea. The flavour is flowery and creamy and very comforting with the slightest hint of smokiness in the aftertaste. The tea is Fairtrade and certified EU organic.

Brewing suggestions: 3 grams of tea per 200ml of 100C water, 1st steeping 1-2min, 2nd steeping 2-3min, 3rd steeping 3-4min etc.
